ESPN Creative Studio is a unit within the Content division of ESPN. Our team includes Motion Graphics, Edit, Visual Storytelling, Production Enhancements and Innovations, Creative Operations, and the Music group. Positions within Creative Studio include Video Editors, Post Editors, Producer Editors, Sound Design, Graphic Designers, Project Managers, Art Directors, and more. We are the go-to destination for conceptualizing, developing, and executing content creation across all domestic and international ESPN distribution platforms.
The Supervising Video Editor, Creative Studio role involves management responsibilities while continuing to deliver outstanding creative content in the editing chair. Management duties will include supervising employees, overseeing specific areas and workflows, and reviewing the work of editors. The role aims to develop employees, projects, and efficiencies, propelling Edit and Creative Studio into the future. The Supervising Video Editor will also provide administrative support and enforce all departmental and company policies and initiatives.

The Supervising Video Editor will also provide administrative support and enforce all departmental and company policies and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise employees, with the possibility of increasing the number of direct reports over time.
- Oversee specific areas of editors and workflows.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of content development technology to ensure competitive creativity.
- Develop employees through content review sessions with editors and direct reports, providing written feedback on their creative abilities and growth areas to both the staff member and their supervisor.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations with direct reports.
- Edit at a mastery level across a wide range of assignments, software, and platforms within the edit environment.
- Foster a creative team culture and cultivate an environment where editors can continue learning and growing.
- Collaborate with applicable production and client representatives in the advance planning stages to ensure efficient provision of facilities and employees to achieve desired results.
- Direct and evaluate the performance of all assigned employees, including the implementation of departmental and company goals and the resolution of employee conflicts.
- Assist in implementing training programs to improve the efficiency and competency of the creative staff.
- Learn essential computer programs for the Supervising Video Editor responsibilities (Scheduling platforms, Concur, SAP, Workfront, Xytech, etc.).
- Minimum of 9 years of experience editing on a non-linear system.
- Mastery of non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere, Avid, Grass Valley Edius or Qube, etc.).
- Highly skilled knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, coach, and train staff.
- Ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines.
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Flexibility to adjust shifts and days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.
- In-depth understanding and expertise in specific areas of editing.
- Experience in research and development in specified areas of expertise.
- Comprehensive understanding of supervising a team.
- Bilingual proficiency (written and spoken) in both English and Spanish.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field
- Vocational School or related experience
