The Program Director is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination of services in a group home setting for individuals with developmental disabilities. The director ensures compliance with state (DDD) regulations, promotes person-centered care, and oversees staff to maintain a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight & Compliance and Behaviour Plan writing

Ensure group home operations comply with DDD regulations, Medicaid standards, and agency policies.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant federal and state guidelines.

Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of incident reports, medication logs, and service plans.

  • Staff Supervision & Development

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate group home staff (Direct Support Professionals, Supervisors, etc.).

Provide ongoing coaching and performance evaluations to staff.

Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.

  • Individualized Support & Service Planning

Oversee the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs).

Ensure residents receive services that meet their physical, emotional, social, and behavioral needs.

Participate in ISP meetings, team meetings, and clinical consultations.

  • Health & Safety

Monitor health care needs of members, including scheduling appointments and ensuring medication administration protocols are followed.

Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure the home remains clean, organized, and hazard-free.

Respond to emergencies and implement crisis intervention plans when necessary.

  • Financial & Administrative Duties

Monitor program budget and control expenses following organizational policies.

Oversee petty cash, member funds, and household expenditures.

Prepare reports and documentation for audits, licensing visits, and internal reviews.

  • Family & Community Engagement

Serve as the primary contact for family members, guardians, and external service providers.

Foster a positive and collaborative relationship with stakeholders.

Advocate for residents' rights and ensure their voices are included in care planning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field field Experience is accepted

Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Knowledge of DDD regulations, Medicaid, and person-centered planning.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Ability to pass background checks and required training certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, Crisis Management).

Working Conditions

On-call responsibilities, including occasional nights and weekends.

Split between on-site group home visits and office-based administrative tasks.

Occasional lifting or physical assistance may be required to support individuals.
