Located in the heart of downtown Joliet, Illinois, the Rialto Square Theatre, proudly managed by VenuWorks, is a historical gem that has been delighting audiences for nearly a century. Originally built in 1926 as a vaudeville and movie palace, this magnificent venue has preserved its rich heritage while evolving into a premier entertainment destination. The Rialto Square Theatre, renowned for its architectural splendor and cultural significance, continues to be a central hub for artistic and community events.

The esplanade and rotunda of the theater are inspired by iconic French and Roman architecture, featuring designs from the Hall of Mirrors, Arc de Triomphe, and Pantheon. The rotunda includes 18 Corinthian columns and a dome, with a prominent crystal chandelier named "Duchess." The decor also includes draperies from the early Dufour period and the Goddess of the Eastern Star encircling the rotunda.4

The theatre boasts a 1,971-seat capacity, making it perfect for concerts, theatrical performances, public speakers, and more. Its palatial rotunda hosts numerous weddings, receptions, and community gatherings annually, offering a breathtaking space for special events. The Thomas J. and Patricia Kassis Lambrecht Hospitality Suite serves as a versatile event space ideal for intimate gatherings and special occasions. Maintained in pristine condition, the theatre exudes historic design with vintage charm and modern comforts.

Summary

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for planning all media buying and placement, follow up and settlement for all performances. This position is also responsible for website maintenance and social media management. This position works with minimum supervision and direction to initiate contact and act as a liaison with promoters. Also, responsible for promoting goodwill in the community and enhancing the image of the theatre through media releases and promotions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Strategize, maintain and execute media plans including budget tracking.
  • Negotiate paid and trade media placements to ensure the theatre retains a dominant advertising presence.
  • Places all media buys for events and set advertising timelines and gathers bills for settlement.
  • Manage the locations’ website, social media strategy and digital footprint.
  • Establish relationships with key personnel of the media, including newspapers, magazines, television and radio.

Other Responsibilities

  • Coordinates placement, follow up and settlements of event advertising.
  • Works to create advertisements for print, signage, direct mail, broadcast, etc.
  • Serves as liaison with Ticketmaster to efficiently promote events and shows.
  • Responsible for media during events.
  • Coordinates all forms of social media marketing
  • Creates email notification of events, discounts or pre-sales through Ticketmaster.
  • Maintains regular office hours and attends show nights to gather content to distribute via social media channels

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job may have supervisory responsibilities of part-time help and interns.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year College or university in communications, marketing, advertising or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of related experience
  • Experience and proficiency in all of the above essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to interpret and use demographic and marketing research information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and database programs.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Applicant must possess current, valid driver’s license.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write professional procedures, reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with lessees, user groups, their representatives and the general public.
  • Ability to speak and understand English.
