Summary

The Branch Vice President II will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the credit union's business development activities and strategies that promote the growth of the credit union by attracting new, and maintaining existing business relationships. The Branch Vice President II must engage all staff in meeting assigned goals and must ensure all branch staff adheres to the Sales Audit Program. Branch Vice President II’s are required to achieve a Sales Audit rating of “Meets Standards” or better. Branch Vice President II’s are responsible for overseeing all aspects of branch management and maybe called upon to manage more than one location. As staffing levels dictate, Branch Vice President II’s will perform all operational and platform duties, including members’ transactions normally conducted at a teller window, accepting and processing all types of loan applications, compiling loan packages, opening new accounts, and handling member transactions, inquiries and complaints. The Branch Vice President II is responsible to ensure their branch or branches consistently meet or exceed the assigned production goals and is ultimately responsible for the branch or branches’ operational integrity.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and direct the communication of information designed to keep membership groups, and potential membership groups informed of credit union products and services.
  • Responsible to ensure the branch meets or exceeds the assigned production goals, and is responsible to ensure all staff within the branch promotes Sierra Central products and services and all staff participates in the branch sales efforts.
  • Organize in conjunction with SEG management, the sponsorship of events, within various SEGS, that introduce the credit union to potential members.
  • Required to make sales calls on a variety of individuals, small businesses, and merchants, to generate new business.
  • Expected to install and operate an effective telemarketing program.
  • Working with local merchants or vendors, install display racks, pamphlet racks, and posters and distribute other Sierra Central advertising and promotional materials
  • Arrange for and conduct public contact initiatives designed to identify new prospects and will be required to follow up with staff making direct contact and sales presentation.
  • Direct and promote goodwill through such publicity efforts as speeches, exhibits, films, tours, and question/answer sessions. A high degree of community involvement is expected from the Branch Vice President who is expected to professionally represent Sierra Central during community projects and events at public, social and business functions.
  • Perform all regular operational and platform duties as needed to ensure members receive quality member service at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, members’ transactions normally conducted at a teller window, accepting and processing all types of loan applications, compiling loan packages, opening new accounts, and handling member transactions, inquiries and complaints.
  • Responsible for monitoring, coaching, and counselling all branch staff. The Branch Vice President II in conjunction with the Operations Manager will write all branch employees’ annual performance appraisals.
  • Must be actively involved in the day-to-day running of the branch and be capable of adequately running all aspects of the branch functions without any loss of operational integrity or negative impact on member service.
  • Responsible for the overall safety, security and soundness of the branch and must ensure that all opening and closing procedures are followed as prescribed. The Branch Vice-President II will be responsible for opening and closing the branch as staffing needs dictate.
  • Must ensure that all inter-action with members and co-workers is polite, professional, and respectful at all times.
  • Must be able to travel to other locations on short notice to fill-in where needed or as staffing needs dictate.
  • Must maintain current knowledge in all previously completed training classes and courses and must attend all new training as developed and implemented.
  • Must adhere to the terms and conditions set forth in the Branch Commission Agreement at all times.
  • Must successfully complete and pass all required and/or assigned training within 180-day training period.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess the ability to read and comprehend complex, technical instructions along with the ability to transfer knowledge of it to others, either in writing or through verbal communication.
  • Must be comfortable with and able to make effective group or one-to-one presentations and must be able to use his/her communications skills at all levels within the organization.
  • Must demonstrate the use of “Common sense” in resolving real life every day problems.
  • Must be able to perform or quickly learn the routine daily requirements of using in house computers and systems as it applies to the operations within a branch environment.
  • Must have the ability to travel to attend training classes and work at other branches as business needs dictate.
  • Must have the ability to make branch security a priority and that opening and closing procedures are followed as prescribed.
  • Must have the ability to actively engage all branch staff in the attainment of the branch’s assigned production goals to ensure these goals are met or exceeded on a consistent basis.

Education And Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A Bachelors degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred or equivalent education/training and at least 10 years experience in financial management, preferably with a banking background.
  • Must be familiar with banking and credit union regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Regulation B, Regulation CC, Regulation Z, etc.
  • The Branch Vice President must be extremely knowledgeable of Sierra Central’s operating procedures and products and services offered.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must successfully complete and pass the required training courses per the Talent Development Center.
  • Must meet acceptable job performance standards.
  • Newly hired of newly promoted employees to the Branch Vice President II position must complete all required training courses must be completed with 180-day introductory period.
