The Software Tester is an established test role involved in planning, designing, creating and executing software testing and QA activities. They will perform all software testing to demonstrate that the quality of the product meets the business expectations and is fit for purpose. The testing will be as appropriate to the project, e.g. system, integration, end to end, regression, performance and acceptance testing. This also extends to Quality Assurance activities, e.g. design and specification review, implementation activities, process improvement etc. This includes ensuring that test and QA techniques are established, developed and maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Works on multiple levels: test planning, test design, test execution, regression, automation where suitable and test completion activities including implementation.
- Familiarity with the company’s products and objectives.
- Executing high quality software testing on increasingly complex items under test.
- Prepare suitable acceptance criteria and test approaches in accordance with Moog's test methodology and current product/project definition.
- Develop test specifications, estimates, test cases/plans, test scripts to ensure quality of the deliverable is suitable and in accordance with expectations and to agreed schedule.
- Identify and find or create test data.
- Execute testing at a level suitable to the item under test.
- All testing deliverables are clear and understandable, including bugs and evidence of test execution and completion. Minimal back and forth of test deliverables.
- Update regression test suite as necessary.
- Follow change and fault reporting processes.
- Provide sign off recommendations.
- Utilize test tools as appropriate, e.g. Gitlab, Redmine, Trello, JIRA, Excel, etc.
- Work on platforms, operating systems, and test environments as required.
- Scheduling work and ensuring timely delivery.
- Provide Engineering Manager with status of work in progress and workload and raise any issues as appropriate.
- Ensuring quality and continuous improvements on increasingly complex items under test.
- Mentor less experienced Testers.
- Perform reviews and other appropriate practices to ensure test actions are of consistently high quality.
- Maintain test best-practices.
- Active and team focused approach to bug resolution. Work to reduce the bug deficit where appropriate and beneficial.
- Participate and/or feedback in to retrospectives and any post implementation review processes.
- Take part it iteration demonstrations.
- Generating Test Assets and guide quality assurance direction.
- Contribute to the product roadmap with a quality focused view.
- Suggest, and be involved in, improvements to the company's test assets portfolio.
- 2-8 years' commercial experience in test or quality assurance roles.
- Proven ability to design and architect high quality, reliable software test assets including test design, approach, scripts, and bugs.
- Full lifecycle experience in multiple software projects, from inception, planning, development, test, deployment and maintenance.
- Excellent problem solving approach.
- Good electronic and digital music production skills.
- Understanding of musical theory, sound design principles, analog and digital synthesizers, sequencing, digital audio workstations, MIDI, and audio plugins are a plus.
- Recognized software testing and quality assurance skills.
- Good self-starter, excellent communicator with demonstrable documentation skills.
- Logical approach to problem solving without continued referral to others.
- Ability to adapt to different, changing and increasingly complex situations and plans.
- Ability to work in a team as well independently.
- Positive, proactive, ‘can do’ attitude and approach.
- Ability to pick up new technologies and test methodologies.
- Understanding of target markets and products, including products under development, and company’s related products. Understand competing products.
