## Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process payroll weekly for both bargaining and non-bargaining

employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with union agreements,

employee policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local

laws. \*

  • Manage payroll-related inquiries from employees, union

representatives, and supervisors. \*

  • Investigate payroll discrepancies in the timekeeping system,

processing corrections as they arise to ensure timely resolution. \*

  • Enter and approve time records for the administrative building

personnel in the timekeeping system. Serve as the primary backup to

the division timekeepers when needed. \*

  • Prepare, reconcile, and submit payroll journals, deductions, taxes

and accruals for all payrolls. \*

  • Maintain and balance both employee and employer pension

contributions. Reconcile pension contributions with accounts payable

and the pension administrator on a monthly and annual basis. \*

  • Process and stay up to date on compliance, court orders and employee

change requests related to direct deposit, garnishments, tax

statuses and voluntary deductions. \*

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of W-2 tax statements. \*
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Information Technology and finance

teams to ensure seamless payroll operations. \*

  • Serve as the backup for the Payroll Manager during their absence. \*
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.

## Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, business administration,

or related field is required. In lieu of education, five years of

directly related work experience with a high school diploma or

equivalate may be considered.

  • Three years of prior work experience in payroll processing is

required.

  • Familiarity with payroll systems, timekeeping platforms, and

financial reconciliation processes is required.

  • Experience working with collective bargaining contracts and union

agreements is preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and

regulations.

  • Ability to problem-solve and apply critical thinking to resolve

payroll discrepancies.

  • Expertise in processing payroll deductions, taxes, garnishments, and

pension contributions.

  • Skilled in financial reconciliation, journal entries and accounts

payable coordination.

  • Effective collaboration with employees, union representatives, and

cross-functional teams.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive

employee data.
