Job Overview
The Airframe Fabrication Technician at AEVEX Aerospace performs precision mechanical assembly work, which is typically of high complexity and/or requires fitting, alignment, and the adjustment of components, units, and assemblies to very close tolerances.
Essential Functions
- Fabricates sheet metal parts in accordance with current technical data provided
- Safely operates power equipment such as drill motor, rivet gun, hydraulic press, hand roll, shears, brakes, grinders and band saw
- Works with flat pattern layouts in sheet metal parts
- Performs complex press brake, bending at angles, step bends, proper back gauge transfer between steps, delays, etc.
- Selects appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength
- Reads blueprints, work orders, and oral and written instructions to fabricate and assemble sheet metal aircraft parts
- Properly records all work performed
- Supports problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
- Follows all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment
- Ensures that all work is done efficiently and adheres to aviation safety regulations and industry best practice
- Maintains a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with company standards, customer and government regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.

- Understanding of basic shop math
- Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, micrometer and scale
- Knowledge of aircraft hardware, materials, and processes
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Ability to meet daily/weekly production goals with critical time schedules
- Detail oriented, organized, and a team player
- Strong work ethic and integrity
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license or military aircraft experience a plus
- 2-5 years aviation sheet metal fabrication experience
