Job Summary

The Federal Programs Coordinator will be the liaison between the District Effectiveness & Federal Programs and Title I schools and programs. This position is responsible for monitoring the expenditure of federal funds, including planning, organizing, administering, directing, and accounting for the daily operation of federal programs.

This job has supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides leadership to ensure understanding of and promote federal grants guidance and regulations aligned to the educational program objectives of the district.
  • Plans and leads meetings to facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and the instructional program supported by federal programs.
  • Plans and coordinates activities involving parents, community, and business sector supporting federally funded initiatives.
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to schools regarding the development of schoolwide plans, creation and maintenance of budgets, implementation of instructional activities, and professional development to ensure consistency in meeting federal grants guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate records and documents for assigned schools and required program initiatives for federal/state/local audit purposes.
  • Coordinates federal programs districtwide programs, including summer and/or extracurricular activities; presents to staff and community groups.
  • Keeps abreast of developments and trends in curriculum and instruction; reviews best practices, recent literature, and research studies and reports; and provides leadership in determining program direction and improvement of curriculum and instruction aligned to federal requirements.
  • Serves as liaison and participates with local, county, state, and/or national leaders.
  • Engages in assigned research related to educational programs to guide implementation and maintenance.
  • Assists in the collection and interpretation of results data as it relates to federal guidelines and programs.
  • Assists in the use of data to support instructional processes and programs.
  • Assists in negotiating quotes and resolving issues with vendors/service providers for assigned schools.
  • Prepares required reports and participates in preparing annual budgets; manages expenditures and accounts federally funded activities; recommends allocation of funds; and maintains files and records.
  • Provides schools with uniform procedures for implementing programs required by the Office of District Effectiveness & Federal Programs.
  • Performs duties as assigned under the direction of Assistant Superintendent of District Effectiveness and Federal Programs.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

  • Educational Level: Master's degree required from an accredited college or university
  • Certificate/License Required: L-5 certification
  • Experience: Three years of K-12 classroom teaching and three years of administration experience required
  • Experience working in Title I schools

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent skills in planning, organization, management, communication (both oral and written), and human relations.
  • Thorough understanding of current educational principles, best practices, and procedures in program development, professional learning, instruction, and assessing program needs.
  • Knowledgeable of state/local standards, assessments, and federal guidelines/regulations and can apply them to curriculum and instructional activities.
  • Knowledgeable about comprehensive program development, program monitoring, grant writing, current research, and theory, including cognitive strategies, integrated curriculum, and performance assessments, to assess the effectiveness of proposed federally funded activities.
  • Expertise in national/state standards, curriculum development, and student and program accountability.
  • Proficient in using technology to support learning and as a tool to maintain accurate records/documents.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with principals, specialists, teachers, community members, and local/state/national colleagues to implement and monitor the federal programs in diverse public/private school settings and neglected and delinquent homes.
  • Ability to prepare presentations for workshops and complete/maintain required federal/state/local documents/reports.

Certification, License And Special Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and insurance coverage on personal vehicle.

Salary/Terms/Benefits

  • 239 day work year
  • Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
  • This is a part time position and not benefits eligible.
