Aspen Leadership Group is proud to partner with Home Life Services, Inc. (HLS) in the search for its General Counsel.
HLS seeks a highly accomplished and mission-driven attorney to serve as its General Counsel, a new and pivotal role that will contribute directly to HLS's mission and the well-being of thousands of New Yorkers. Reporting to the Interim Chief Executive Officer, the General Counsel will serve as chief legal and risk management advisor to the CEO, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors, be part of a dedicated and experienced executive team, and have the opportunity to develop the in-house legal function in support of HLS's critical mission and growth. In partnership with the executive team, the General Counsel will have substantial influence and authority to design and refine the strategy and priorities for this new position.
Founded in 1995, HLS provides housing, social services, and targeted programming to families with children and adult families. With a results-oriented approach that emphasizes removing barriers to independence, HLS enables families to thrive in safe, permanent housing. With an annual budget of approximately $120 million and approximately 600 employees, HLS operates 18 shelter facilities across three New York City boroughs. HLS has experienced significant growth over the past decade and is currently navigating a period of leadership transition at both the executive staff and Board of Director levels. This evolution creates an opportunity for strategic transformation, and HLS is seeking a General Counsel with the judgement, expertise, and experience to play a critical role in shaping HLS's future.
HLS is seeking a highly accomplished and deeply committed attorney to serve as its General Counsel, a pivotal role that will contribute directly to HLS's mission and the well-being of thousands of New Yorkers. The candidate must have a J.D. degree, be licensed to practice law in one or more U.S. states, and able to be licensed to practice law in-house in the State of New York. Experience working in a non-profit organization is preferred. HLS will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. If you are excited about this role, have a J.D. degree, meet the legal licensing requirements, and feel that you can contribute to HLS, but your experience does not exactly align with every qualification listed above, we encourage you to apply. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and resume. Cover letters should be responsive to the mission of Home Life Services, Inc. as well as the responsibilities and qualifications stated in the prospectus.
The salary range for this position is $229,375-$266,648 annually.
The role is in the Brooklyn borough of New York City with a flexible approach to in-person work. While regular on-site presence will be expected for key meetings and collaboration, the position allows for remote work most of the time. HLS strives for advance notice for in person meetings but note that leadership roles such as that of General Counsel do not always allow for this. HLS encourages candidates from across the NYC metro area and beyond to apply.
HLS is committed to the inclusion of all qualified candidates. If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, or participating in the selection process, please contact Marianna DiVietro at [email protected].
