The Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations serves as a key member of the athletic department senior leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and operational decision-making. This position is responsible for the management and oversight of athletic facilities, operations, and equipment. It involves coordinating and supervising part-time employees and student workers to ensure the smooth execution of all athletic events and activities. This role requires a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. Additionally, the Assistant Director will collaborate with other senior leaders to enhance departmental initiatives and support broader operations based on the candidate's experience and strengths.

Job Description

Essential Functions

Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, enhancements, and scheduling of athletic facilities to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. Plan, coordinate, and supervise the logistics of athletic events, including setup, staffing, security, and crowd management. Foster a team culture that prioritizes sportsmanship, inclusivity, and the holistic development of student-athletes. Recruit, train, schedule, and manage part-time employees and student workers, ensuring a high level of service and professionalism. Maintain inventory, procurement, and distribution of athletic equipment while ensuring proper storage and usage. Serve as a strategic member of the athletic department senior leadership team, contributing to the overall direction and decision-making of the department. Uphold the institution’s mission and values while striving to achieve competitive success.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and program logistics, efficiently and effectively.

Education

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred

AND

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, preferably at the collegiate level, with demonstrated success in team development.
