- Medical Requirements: Ability to meet Army Conus Replacement Center (CRC) MOD-17 medical requirements for deployment.
The Network Engineer will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, enterprise, and air-gapped network infrastructure for the ASRR system. This role focuses on hands-on technical execution, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure network stability, performance, and compliance with contractual obligations. The engineer will work under senior guidance to address program requirements, resolve network issues, and stay current with networking advancements, contributing to the overall success of the FMS program.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation
- Assist in the design and deployment of secure, scalable network solutions to meet evolving program needs, ensuring compliance with U.S. DoD and international standards.
- Configure and maintain enterprise-class routers, switches, firewalls, VPN appliances, wireless access points, and encryption devices.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues and critical incidents efficiently, leveraging strong troubleshooting skills to minimize downtime.
- Support senior engineers in analyzing and mitigating network-related challenges.
- Implement security measures under the Risk Management Framework (RMF), applying DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and SDIP-29/1 electromagnetic protection standards.
- Conduct credentialed vulnerability scans (e.g., Nessus, ACAS) and assist in remediating findings to ensure compliance.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Utilize network performance monitoring tools to provide data-driven insights for improvements.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, including configurations, topology diagrams, IP schemas, and ports/protocols/services lists.
- Adhere to industry best practices and program-specific documentation standards.
- Work closely with cybersecurity engineers, senior network architects, program managers, U.S. Government stakeholders, and foreign government personnel to ensure seamless network integration and operations.
- Support system verification, site acceptance testing, and integration activities at CONUS/OCONUS sites.
- Stay informed about emerging networking technologies and contribute to the adoption of relevant advancements.
- Assist in capacity planning and infrastructure enhancements under senior guidance.
- Clearance: Eligibility for Government Security Clearance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience with relevant certifications may be substituted.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on network engineering experience supporting DoD or similar programs, with a proven track record of configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, security).
- Proficiency with protocols (e.g., EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, Multicast, GRE over IPsec).
- Experience with network performance monitoring tools and encryption protocols (e.g., MACsec, Type 1/2 encryptors).
- Proficiency with DISA STIGs and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tools for device hardening and compliance.
- Certifications: Required current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Teams) and Microsoft Visio.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, capable of engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Solid problem-solving abilities to address network and security challenges.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred.
- Additional certifications (e.g., A+, Network+, VMware, CASP).
- Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python).
- Familiarity with cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) or hybrid multi-cloud environments.
- Knowledge of NATO cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., Technical and Implementation Directive on CIS Security AC/322-D/0048-Rev3).
- Prior support for Foreign Military Sales or multinational defense programs.
