Here’s What You Can Expect From Watco
The Vice President of LTL will be responsible for the operations and sales of Watco’s LTL service line. This position will be responsible for developing an LTL strategy that allows Watco to confidently offer a service product that exceeds industry norms and meets customer expectations. This position will oversee and ensure operating discipline by team members, guide team development, provide direct representation of Watco as both the customer and carrier facing liaison, set service expectations and measure and implement continuous improvement initiatives as needed. As a key service leader, evaluation of existing and alternate technologies will be necessary to support current and growing business needs along with direct P&L responsibility.

The Vice President of LTL will be responsible for the operations and sales of Watco’s LTL service line. This position will be responsible for developing an LTL strategy that allows Watco to confidently offer a service product that exceeds industry norms and meets customer expectations. This position will oversee and ensure operating discipline by team members, guide team development, provide direct representation of Watco as both the customer and carrier facing liaison, set service expectations and measure and implement continuous improvement initiatives as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):
- Oversee daily operations inclusive of sales and sales forecasting
- Hire, lead, and develop a high functioning team commensurate with product line growth
- Work with other Watco operating units to develop joint approaches to customer development and growth
- Identify and generate new sales opportunities
- Ensure Watco Logistics operating procedures and protocol are adhered to
- Effectively supervise and manage direct reports by providing team leadership and motivation
- Evaluate and communicate team member performance levels through formal and informal procedures including regular leadership and management meetings
- Set and monitor team performance to ensure annual goals and objectives are achieved
- Meet customer needs and expectations by delivering solutions in a safe, timely, and profitable way
- Account for rapidly changing market dynamics
- Grow, develop, and review detailed financial plans, profit and loss income statements and adherence to the EBITDA plan including monitoring forecast vs. established plan
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability recommended:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Transportation or supply chain related experience required
- Business development, personal training, sales knowledge, and LTL service knowledge recommended
- Demonstrable business development, operations, and sales successes required
- Record of business acumen improving financial results
- P&L management required
- Apply knowledge of organization, communication, conflict resolution, project, personal management, and time management skills
- Ability to provide oral and written reports, business correspondence, and effective presentation of information to customers, team members, and managers
- Knowledgeable in standard industry practices, trends, and operational requirements
- Capable of working independently and making decisions with limited supervision

- Sit, stand, walk, and reach with arms – Completion of paperwork, long consecutive hours of typing and using the computer
- Talk daily to customers, team members, vendors, etc.

- Ability to travel 25-50% of the time with flexibility
