Position Overview
The 30+ year company supports the petrochemical and manufacturing industry domestically and internationally and is positioned along the Houston Ship Channel providing training, occupational medicine, and innovative solutions to industry. The Paramedic will assess injuries, administer emergency medical care, and administer occupational health testing services in an ambulatory clinic setting.
Essential Job Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle training equipment and tools, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and lifting. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This job is typically in an out-of-office environment and will also require a large amount of travel within the Houston area, but also around the United States. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

The EMT/Paramedic reports to the on-site coordinator. This position does not have direct reports.

The Paramedic will assess injuries, administer emergency medical care, and administer occupational health testing services in an ambulatory clinic setting.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide medical services at various sites around the US as needed
- Observes, records, and reports to the physician the patient’s condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment
- Performs first-aid and emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures
- Operates equipment such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), external defibrillators, or bag valve mask resuscitators in advanced life support environments
- Administers drugs either orally or by injection or performs intravenous procedures under a physician’s direction.
- Activate and facilitate a telemedicine system
- Respond to after-hour calls as needed
- Maintain a working knowledge of all testing equipment which includes but is not limited to respirator fit machines, pulmonary function machines, audiometry machines, and breath alcohol machines
- Perform occupational health testing services such as respirator mask fit testing, pulmonary function testing, audiogram testing, and substance abuse testing
- Administer respirator fit tests in full compliance with CFR 1910.134 Respiratory Protection Standard
- Administer all drug and alcohol collections in full compliance with 49 CFR Part 40 standards
- Maintain and develop customer relationships by responding to customers' questions, concerns, and requests with speed and professionalism
- Thoroughly disinfect and inspect each respirator upon completion of each test
- Ensure all customer data and paperwork is kept confidential at all times
- Keep up to date with relevant safety topics, software, lecture, and online training technology
- Attend and successfully pass a week-long certifying course in NIOSH and CAOCH – Paid for by company
- Attend and successfully pass all required drug and alcohol testing courses – Paid for by company
- Customer service skills are required
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must enjoy working with the public and have a strong initiative to work independently
- Must be able to adapt to work in varied environments and learn detailed procedures
- Proven ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions
- Cross-train and assist other departments as necessary
- Experience in an occupational or industrial job site is a plus
- Must be available to travel with short notice and be able to stay at on-site projects for extended periods
- General organizational skills
- Knowledge of general principles of medicine as can be derived from a paramedic training program
- Certification and state license required
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Each course or topic may require specific minimum qualifications, as determined by HASC and applicable regulations
- Entry-level proficiency in Windows Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
