We are looking for a seasoned individual contributor, who works independently with minimal supervision. Develops complex improvements to medical education strategies and delivers targeted and differentiated training programs for medical professionals and healthcare organizations. Maintains an extensive knowledge of professional medical education practices and company product technologies in order to coordinate procedural demonstrations and product application training for medical professionals, healthcare providers, strategic partners, and relevant stakeholders.

Position Overview

Shockwave Medical is committed to supporting the clinicians that use our products with a robust offering of educational programs and working closely with clinicians to improve the products and solutions we offer. The Medical Education Manager is a critical customer facing role within Shockwave Medical with the remit to develop and execute medical education programs as part of a broader educational offering. The position will work across both coronary and peripheral therapies and reports to the Associate Director, Medical Education.

The successful candidate will join a team passionate about supporting physicians, nurses, and technologists in their journey to better understand the challenges of cardiovascular disease and the role Shockwaves products like Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) and Reducer can serve as a therapeutic option for their patients. This will have specific responsibility for enhancing our US and Canada local Medical Education offering. The role will offer an opportunity to work with world class physician faculty across interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, and interventional radiology. The individual will develop and maintain productive relationships with key opinion leaders and must be comfortable in appropriate coaching of physicians in the development and delivery of peer-to-peer education.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, plan, and execute Shockwave Medical company sponsored education programs, including identifying educational needs, and development of programs and formats that meet customer and business needs.
  • At a local/regional event level, lead agenda, faculty selection & scheduling, learning objectives, content creation and physician support. Work with Medical Education event managers to co-facilitate logistics planning and execution.
  • Act as an advisor and consult with the field organization to uncover HCP learning needs and develop educational solutions to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for local/regional speaker prep for key sessions.
  • Coordinate and manage completion, collection, and organization of reporting needs for measuring educational success.
  • Responsible for updating content regularly and ensures content stays up to date. Facilitating faculty assessment and onboarding processes.
  • Define local/regional educational tactics, including program formats, target audience, and ensure compliance with all corporate and government laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and manage relationships with local/regional key opinion leaders, faculty, and key decision makers and strategically leverage these relationships to advance messaging, impact, and influence.
  • Identify local/regional speaker development needs, vet appropriate candidates, onboard, monitor progress and identify ongoing training needs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical data, interventional techniques, and educational needs.
  • Collaborate closely with meeting planning and other business partners to ensure program logistics and registration are well supported and aligned with business strategy.
  • Manage expenses within assigned budget, ensuring annual goals are achieved.
  • Mentor, train and educate sales partners on Professional Education applications and program management processes and requirements.
  • Contribute to annual Needs Assessment Process and maintain compliance and reporting standards in line with Shockwave Medical HCP education procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field of study or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in education, training, sales, or marketing in the med-tech space. Prior experience in the endovascular or cardiovascular space is highly preferred.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and strong project management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Operate in a cross-functional team and independently, with adaptability to changing requirements.
  • Demonstrated willingness to make decisions and to take responsibility for such.
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation skills with all levels of management and across the organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%.

The anticipated salary range for this position is 121,000.00 - 217,000.00

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
