Job Summary

The Human Resource Director is responsible for planning, leading, directing, developing, and coordinating the policies and activities. Ensures legal compliance and implementation of the organization's policies, mission and talent strategy, consistent with Boys and Girls Clubs mission and values.

Job Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the CEO, Director of Finance, Director of Operations and board, staff-led committees and management, plans, leads, and develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, and initiatives, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and community practice, as well as Boys and Girls Clubs mission and values.
  • Assists with or oversees the administration of human resource programs, including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs with the management team; develops and executes best practices for hiring.
  • Participate in hiring for key organizational positions.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices; Identifies and evaluates opportunities to improve policies and procedures to ensure they meet the Club’s needs.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Manages the employee files that are housed within our payroll software program.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Finance and Office Manager, become a backup to processing the biweekly payroll.
  • Handles employee relations and exit interviewing; ensures a productive work environment that encourages positive, effective working relationships and open communications, and is respectful of the diversity of Club staff, volunteers, and members. Takes prompt, appropriate action to respond to conflicts between staff members.
  • Handles ALL DOT functions, making sure all of our CDL drivers remain current with their licenses.
  • Encourages proactive strategies for responding to employee relations issues. Provides information to staff and management to support management decision-making about policy issues and employee relations.
  • Works with hiring managers, the Office Manager and IT Director on the onboarding of new staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources Management and possess data management skills.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other professional certification is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting Human Resources management.
  • Scrupulous attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Must communicate well with the Executive Board, management, staff as well as the public.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be flexible.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Hours

25 hours a week, Monday through Friday, preferably 12-5pm
