Holtec International, through its subsidiary SMR LLC, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Mechanical Engineer within the SMR Mechanical Engineering team located at the KPS Technology Campus in Camden, NJ. This division is responsible for supporting Holtec’s innovative small modular reactor (SMR-300) program. The mechanical engineering team is designing the heat exchangers, pressure vessels, piping, and structural supports for the SMR-300 reactor. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and vendors to bring concept designs to maturity, document analysis results, and support licensing activities.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for executing design activities using CAD and design analysis tools. Responsibilities include creating and refining concept designs, developing technical documentation, collaborating with vendors, and supporting the preparation of design deliverables, and stakeholder presentations. The candidate will also be involved in verifying design concepts, documenting structural and mechanical design analyses, and contributing to engineering and licensing documentation for nuclear systems and components.

Minimum Technical Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or closely related field of engineering.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in mechanical or structural engineering design.
- Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce error-free technical documents.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and math skills.
- Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
- Experience with CAD platforms; knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or SmartPlant is desirable.
- MS degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or a related engineering field.
- Experience in commercial or naval nuclear systems design or operations.
- Familiarity with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
- Experience collaborating with fabricators and engineers to create detailed design drawings.
