Join the Casey's Transportation team in Ankeny, IA as a full-time Logistics Specialist! This position is responsible for executing a daily plan for movement of all freight within an assigned area. The Logistics Specialist is also responsible for scheduling fuel deliveries and ensuring optimal levels of fuel inventories are maintained at Company stores. On a daily basis, this position will prioritize deliveries considering a multitude of factors including supply cost, freight cost, capacity, available hours of service (HOS), days of supply, burn rates, supply allocations, and current/future inventory levels.

- Develop a daily logistics plan for Casey's equipment and third-party carriers that minimizes all in delivered to store economics. Reallocates resources when necessary.
- Ensure logistics plan optimizes the use of all resources and is updated frequently as business changes.
- Partner with supply group to ensure contract obligations are met and share pertinent information with pricing group on supply and capacity constraints that may impact deliveries.
- Identify and execute market arbitrage opportunities that decrease our overall delivered cost.
- Work with 3rd party carrier partners to ensure optimal supply is being pulled, on time deliveries are being made, and compliance metrics are being meet.
Hours for this position are 6am-6pm, 4 days on and 4 days off
Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent work related experience is required.
- Previous dispatch experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
- Strong decision making and analytical skills, with the ability to multi-task, stay organized, and collaborate effectively with other team members across various departments within the company.
- Team player who demonstrates fairness and concern for drivers, carriers, and Casey's team members.
- Team oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting.
