Position

The Hunt Institute is seeking a Staff Accountant that will support the day-to-day functions of the Finance department. This position will be responsible for conducting billing, managing financial reports, records, and accounts, including but not limited to, maintaining general ledger-related activities, in a fast-paced environment. The position is based out of The Hunt Institute’s office in Cary, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Full cycle accounts payable management.
  • Prepare bills and receipts and record revenue.
  • Record and manage individual donations across multiple platforms.
  • Maintain internal controls within the finance department and furnish documentation as requested.
  • Maintain the integrity of data for routine non-profit reporting requirements for stakeholders.
  • Enter Program Budgets into Sage Intacct and post agency journal entries before month end close.
  • Support the Finance team by providing any requested materials for annual audit and tax return preparation including schedules and accompanying forms.
  • Participate in technical accounting research.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the business operations, financial systems, and the general ledger structure.
  • Assist with preparing budget schedules as needed.
  • Assist in special projects and/or other areas as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned or necessary to move the organization forward

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of finance/accounting in a nonprofit setting is preferred. Or in place of a degree, 4+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Principles, practices and knowledge of budgeting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft excel
  • Sage Intacct preferred, financial software experience required
  • Modern office procedures, methods, and technology.
  • Appropriate English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Work Schedule

This position is based out of 4000/5000 Centregreen Way, Suites 301/150, Cary, NC, 27513. The current hybrid schedule is three days in the office each week, and two days’ work from your home office within 45 minutes of our Cary, NC office. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Office hours: 8:30am-5:00pm.

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. The salary recruitment range for this position is $53,000-$60,000.
