QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, emotional maturity, good judgment, integrity, flexibility, resourcefulness and enthusiasm.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with a professional attitude and a passion for youth wellness.
  • Able to work 10 to 28 hours a week on a flexible schedule, primarily evenings.
  • Must be available weekday evenings (events typically 5–8 PM) and weekends (1 Saturday/month as needed).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Comfortable presenting physical activity and wellness programs to schools, groups, and individuals.

EDUCATION

A bachelor’s degree (or working toward one) in exercise science, physical education, health promotion, recreation, youth development, or a related field. Experience in coaching, leading recreational activities, or similar capacity is a plus. Relevant life experience will also be considered..

Position Responsibilities

  • Implement and lead physical activity-based match events to support recruitment, match engagement, and relationship-building.
  • Plan and facilitate a variety of physical activities — from structured sports (basketball, soccer, yoga) to unstructured play (recess games, hiking, movement challenges)..
  • Develop partnerships with local gyms, sports teams, parks, and recreation centers to provide engaging, cost-effective match experiences.
  • Utilize monthly physical activities as tools to support and reengage struggling matches in collaboration with Match Support (MS) staff.
  • Promote volunteer engagement through movement-based recognition events, competitions, and wellness challenges.
  • Create and manage a Physical Activity Calendar with at least 2 events weekly.
  • Coordinate volunteers and secure transportation support for Littles to attend events when necessary.
  • Encourage match bonding through activities that promote teamwork, physical health, and skill-building.
  • Utilize BBBSNEI systems (Match Force) to document participation and outcomes
  • Ensure all activities adhere to child safety policies and risk management protocols.
  • Foster relationships with matches and staff to build a strong community culture around physical wellness.
  • Participate in all required team building, training, and staff meetings.
  • Facilitate/assist non-physical related activities when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION

  • Reports to the Match Activities Lead
  • 90 Day Review and Annual Reviews

EVENT GOALS & STRATEGIES

  • Host 2–4 events weekly, incorporating
  • Small and large group movement-based activities
  • On- and off-site sports/recreation events
  • Themed wellness events (e.g., nutrition + fitness)
  • Connect regularly with internal teams and volunteers
  • Monitor attendance and participant feedback
  • Leverage internal systems to track engagement and trends
  • Strategically design activities to meet physical, social, and emotional needs

Salary And Benefits

Hourly rate: $15-$20/hour based on experience

Available benefits: 401k after 90 days.
