The Department of Management (DOM), Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking an Information Technology Specialist 4 - Backup Administrator to join our team! This role is vital to the stability, integrity, and availability of enterprise-level data backup services supporting hundreds of physical and virtual servers across our hosted environment.
As the backup administrator for our enterprise data backup systems, you will play a key role in ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient backup and disaster recovery solutions for mission-critical services supporting executive branch agencies.

6 months experience and 12 semester hours or a combination of both in one or more of the following:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to two years of full-time work: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating and coordinating computer based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/ delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; or designing/administering Internet sites;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the completion of an approved curriculum/specialized training program developed and implemented by or in cooperation with state government; or eighteen semester hours of accredited post high school course work in one of the specialty areas listed above; or certification by an authorized educational institution/major computer or software producer in an area directly related to one of the specialty areas listed above, for the required education;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the required experience for thirty semester hours of the required education;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as an Information Technology Specialist 3.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the configuration, installation, and maintenance of enterprise data backup systems.
- Ensure system availability, data integrity, and security using best practices in configurations, access controls, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with hosting administrators, infrastructure teams, and agency customers to support backup solutions and retention policies.
- Monitor system performance and capacity to ensure timely and reliable backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Manage system version updates and recommend enhancements to improve system performance and capabilities.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, standards, and procedures.
- Generate usage files for accurate billing and provide cost information for budgeting.
- Provide backup support for storage systems and perform basic maintenance on mainframe and open systems storage.
- Respond to service incidents and requests as needed.
- Support management and team initiatives, and participate on committees or work groups as assigned.
