Who We’re Looking For
Toyota’s Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Automated Electronics Design Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and engineer highly integrated vehicle electronics parts (Body electronics, ADAS related electronics, etc.)
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Integrated Vehicle Systems Department's objective to develop electronics parts within vehicles.

Who We’re Looking For

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Integrated Vehicle Systems Department's objective to develop electronics parts within vehicles.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Electronics development of various ECU’s and systems found within automotive development.
- Lead engineer for Camera converter box responsible for integration, development, and evaluation of Camera Converter box.
- Coordinate activities between TMNA R+D and supplier on site including vehicle retrofit, evaluation, and design review activities.
- Coordinate meetings and discussions between TMNA R+D/TMC for status updates, design decisions, and vehicle integration topics.
- Support on site at supplier facility in Michigan as necessary.
- Plan structure of parts and systems through target setting, packaging and style feasibility.
- Measured/accountable for following department processes, meeting deadlines, and error-free output for parts development of the group (E.g. Parts Lists, Wire Specifications, Part Specifications, DRBFM, Functional Safety strategy, and Hardware and software evaluation).
- Responsible for identifying and following project related milestones through cooperation with DSP group and team leader instruction.
- Responsible for the development of electronics parts within concurrent minor and major changes.
- Accountable for control and reduction of cost and mass for responsible parts and within group.
- Taking extra initiative to improve group operations such as processes, visualization of group health, and other initiatives to increase quality of group output.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable regulations, industry, Toyota Standards, and market to all of groups parts.
- Improving the customer experience by innovation. Continually gaining knowledge of parts, competitors and customers and transforming them into innovative proposals, designs or developments. Benchmark competitor vehicles, consumer electronics, and other related technologies then derive next generation parts/system proposals to improve user experience, cost, mass, and performance.
- Create and maintain part development schedule through to SOP (Start of Production). Conduct schedule negotiations within Electronics Systems department and suppliers. Assess and develop risk management activities to maintain project targets; i.e. performance, cost, mass, quality, user experience. Make proposals and recommendations to recover.
- Participate in evaluation and manufacturing activities at the event location - both domestic and international.
- Communicate between various Toyota Design Center's Engineering Staff. Facilitate regular communication with Toyota Japan counterparts.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronics, Aeronautical, Aerospace, b, Mechanical, or similar).
- History in resolving field issues for Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Systems. .
- Experience with sensors, central processing units (CPUs), or electronic control units (ECUs), developing application software to facilitate testing in a system or simulated environment (such as HILS, SILS).
- Experience in unit/system testing, validating, and/or verifying embedded software.
- Experience with vehicle networking technology and troubleshooting.(CAN, Lin, CXPI, etc.)
- Strong engineering understanding of ECU HW and SW development strategies.
- Familiarity with system development quality tools. [Example: DFMEA, DRBFM, FTA].
- Exposure to IS026262 Functional Safety concepts and application to develop new systems. [Example: HARA, FSR, TSR].
- Willingness to work a hybrid work style. Attend in-person meetings 4 days per week.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and abroad.
- Willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- A valid driving license and clean driving record.
- Japanese language capability
- TBP (Toyota Business Practice) panel completed.
- Experience designing products in areas of automotive engineering or robotics.
