Western Tidewater CSB is seeking a Full -Time -Community Inclusion Specialist.

Overview:

  • Bridging the gap between our agency and community members.
  • Responsible for educating community members about our agency’s services, addressing the needs of peers and facilitating transportation to/from our peer led wellness home.
  • Serves as vital connection between the Peer-Led Wellness Stay and the broader community.
  • Ensures the program’s visibility, supporting appropriate referrals, transporting individuals to and from the stay, and fostering partnerships that uphold the values of choice, dignity, and peer support.
  • Maintaining documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations and agency policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Outreach: Promote awareness of the Peer-Led Wellness Stay as a voluntary, non-clinical alternative for individuals in emotional crisis. Educate referral sources about eligibility and program goals.
  • Peer Support Coordination: Support the peer-led team in delivering mutual, person-centered engagement grounded in shared lived experience.
  • Transportation: Provide or coordinate safe, respectful transportation to and from the Peer-Led Wellness Stay.
  • Crisis Engagement: Respond compassionately to individuals experiencing distress by offering grounding support rooted in peer values.
  • Referral Management: Collaborate with providers, community partners, and informal supports to ensure appropriate and timely referrals.
  • Event Participation: Represent the PLWS program at community events, outreach fairs, and local initiatives, including some weekends and evenings.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear, trauma-informed, and non-clinical documentation in accordance with licensing and program fidelity requirements.
  • Systems Navigation: Connect individuals to services that enhance wellness and avoid unnecessary hospitalization.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) – Required
  • Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery and a commitment to sharing from that perspective.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, mutuality, and peer values.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or communications field preferred (experience may substitute).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work some evenings/weekends and respond flexibly to guest and community needs.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and cultural humility skills
