This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste Services

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday; Hours TBD

LOCATION: Central Transfer Station - 1208 E 56th Avenue

** Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range. **

: Under the direction of the General Manager (GM), provides advanced level administrative and executive services to the GM. Functions as the GM's confidential assistant, prepares briefing packages, plans, schedules and performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical work for the Department and the Solid Waste and Recycling Advisory Commission (SWRAC). Coordinates all SWRAC memorandums and informational reports as clerk. Coordinates, schedules and attends the GM's staff meetings, schedules conferences and helps manage the GM's calendar. Monitors and maintains all incoming and outgoing projects, correspondence, files, policies and procedures, and confidential employee related matters for the GM's office. Maintains positive and professional working relationships with the Department, the Municipality and the public. Responsible for the procurement of all office equipment and supplies for the Department. Assists with A/P and Payroll on an "as needed" basis for the Department. Performs purchasing related activities to include preparing requisitions, contracts, change orders, writing professional services agreements and amendments. Secures all department related travel arrangements. Prepares assembly documents and monitors the process through the BASE system. Administers a variety of contracts. Procures all needed licenses and registrations for the Department fleet. Perform other duties as assigned.

: High school diploma, GED or equivalent, and six

  • years of experience in the field related to the position.

OR

Associates degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance, or similar discipline, and four

  • years of experience in the field related to the position.

OR

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance, or similar discipline, and two

  • years of experience in the field related to the position.

Must Possess And/or Obtain

  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
