Description

Job purpose

The Director of Global Supply Chain will play a critical leadership role in developing a comprehensive global supply chain strategy while optimizing supply chain operations across multiple regions around the world and ensuring supply chain efficiency and customer needs are met. This position directly manages Order Fulfillment and Procurement leaders, among others as necessary, and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Roles And Responsibilities

LMA (Lead, Manage, and Accountability)

Lead

  • Ensuring Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Directors facilitate communication between teams, ensuring alignment and synergy.

Accountability

  • Evaluating and Adjusting Strategies: They assess progress, make data-driven decisions, and pivot when necessary.

Global Supply Chain Strategy and Optimization

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive global supply chain and distribution strategies that support business growth in target markets, improve inventory turns, and reduce excess stock
  • Align supply chain processes with Organizational Excellence Principles to drive continuous improvement
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions (raw material shortages, supplier failures, geopolitical risks, etc.)
  • Continually analyze and refine supply chain processes to enhance efficiency while ensuring high service levels for customers

Global Order Fulfillment Operations

  • Oversee order fulfillment operations, including order entry, shipping, customs compliance, and warehouse strategies to optimize efficiencies
  • In collaboration with Sales, oversee the design and management of the global distribution network, including warehousing, transportation, and logistics, to ensure effective product flow to customers.
  • Ensure on-time, quality delivery of finished goods while minimizing costs
  • Ownership for the development and maintenance of multi-site finished goods inventories

Supplier & Procurement Management

  • Oversee supplier relationships worldwide, ensuring optimized delivery schedules, reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Oversee contract negotiation, including pricing and delivery schedules to align with company goals
  • Evaluate and manage supplier risk, including lead times, geopolitical factors, and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Collaborates with Product Development to provide information and guidance on availability and cost of materials as it relates to products in development
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to ensure the timely and orderly receipt of materials necessary for engineering changes, unexpected changes in demand, and new product launches

Raw Material Inventory Planning

  • Collaborate with Sales and Manufacturing teams to accurately forecast raw material demand and develop inventory strategies to meet customer needs while maximizing inventory turn rates
  • Analyze data to establish optimal raw material inventory levels
  • Implement and monitor inventory management metrics to balance stock levels, improve warehouse utilization and lower cash conversion cycle

Qualifications

The Person (Qualifications)

  • Experience: 10+ years in supply chain with progressive leadership roles, including global operations—preferably in IVD, medical device, or regulated life sciences industries.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or related field or equivalent direct experience considered. MBA or certifications (e.g., APICS, CPIM, CSCP) are a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Infor, NetSuite, SAP) and data-driven decision-making.

Leadership & Strategic Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing, cross-functional supply chain teams.
  • Demonstrated success aligning supply chain strategy with company goals and cross-functional priorities (e.g., manufacturing, QC, finance, sales).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills—balancing strategic initiatives with daily operations.
  • High initiative and ownership mindset; self-starter with a bias for action and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence Experience

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes: procurement, planning, logistics, inventory control, and distribution.
  • Experience with supplier management, controls and material traceability. Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485, or other regulated quality systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated results in cost reduction, supplier performance, inventory optimization, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Theory of Constraints, or Operational Excellence principles applied in supply chain contexts.
  • Experience managing international supplier relationships and navigating global logistics and trade compliance.

Communication & Decision-Making

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
  • Comfortable making high-stakes decisions under pressure; strong problem-solving and prioritization abilities.
  • Willingness to lead with humility, seek feedback, and grow with the organization.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including internationally.
