Position Overview:

As an Entry-Level Used Car Buyer at our dealership, you will play a vital role in the acquisition and evaluation of pre-owned vehicles for resale. Working closely with the service and inventory management teams, you will assist in identifying, inspecting, and pricing used vehicles to ensure a diverse and desirable inventory. Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Sourcing and Evaluation:

  • Identify potential sources for used vehicles, primarily our service departments.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, assessing their condition, and market value.
  • Perform vehicle history checks and research market trends to determine fair pricing.


Negotiation and Purchase:

  • Communicate with sellers to acquire used vehicles at competitive prices, taking into account market conditions, vehicle condition, and dealership objectives.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to determine the demand and potential profitability of specific vehicle models.
  • Prepare and present offers to sellers, ensuring effective communication and building mutually beneficial relationships.


Inventory Management:

  • Collaborate with the inventory management team to determine inventory needs based on market demand and sales forecasts.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle acquisitions, sales, and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate vehicle transportation logistics, including arranging for vehicle delivery or pickup.


Market Analysis:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing strategies for used vehicles.
  • Monitor competitor inventory and pricing to ensure our dealership remains competitive.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on market research to support inventory purchasing decisions.


Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure vehicles meet dealership standards for quality and safety by conducting thorough inspections and requesting repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for each vehicle, including titles, registrations, and any relevant paperwork.


Customer Service and Relationship Building:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with service customers, fostering trust and open communication.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide accurate and detailed vehicle information to potential customers.
  • Address inquiries and concerns from customers and sellers promptly and professionally.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; relevant certifications or coursework in automotive technology or business administration is a plus.
  • Strong interest in the automotive industry and a basic understanding of vehicle makes, models, and market trends.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence others.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to conduct thorough vehicle inspections and evaluations.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics and ability to identify potential issues or repairs needed.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems, including inventory management software and online marketplaces.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and interpret market data.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
