Credit Analyst

The Credit Analyst underwrites commercial and commercial real estate loan requests by reviewing and analyzing financial data, borrower performance and management capabilities to assess credit worthiness, and estimate degree of risk involved in extending credit to commercial customers. This position is also responsible for preparing reports on commercial credit applicants detailing debt service coverage, collateral coverage, payment history, loan relationship, liquidity, leverage, and guarantor strength. The Credit Analyst must monitor and report on overall portfolio performance, with expectation on a high level of activity to maintain strong portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and communicating the financial, tax, and other documents required to complete accurate cash flow and financial credit analysis
  • Interpreting financial data obtained from borrowers and guarantors
  • Completing thorough and accurate Credit Approval Memos for submission to the appropriate Loan Committee members
  • Completing thorough and accurate Officer Memos to file and other related documents as the need arises
  • Making explicit recommendations to Business Lenders, Senior Credit Analyst and Loan Committee that result in strengthened credit relationships
  • Maintaining independence and objectivity at all times when conducting analysis
  • Assisting the department with document preparation, loan closings, and loan configuration
  • Assisting the team in designing and building more efficient and higher quality operating processes
  • Monitoring and reporting on portfolio performance

Qualifications

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work and plan effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of personal and business cash flow analysis
  • Financial and tax statement knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
