Your Responsibilities

  • As a valued member of the Department of Education Human Resources Team you will support the department, by ensuring consistency of human resources policies, work rules, policy enforcement, talent acquisition, classification and compensation, leave management, and customer service.
    • Monitor employee performance evaluation status and notification of supervisors on a monthly basis of evaluation due dates. Review the evaluation forms/goals to assure that they are correctly completed. Route completed reviews for signatures, and enter into Workday.
    • Assists with the hiring process. Duties include, but are not limited to: routing of vacancy paperwork for approval, answer hiring manager questions, posting positions to NEOGov and TeachIowa, and assist hiring managers with applicant screening process.
    • Process Workday transactions. Maintain official personnel files, digital and paper, in accordance with DAS-HRE requirements. File human resources documents, position description questionnaires, performance evaluations, and other materials in employee personnel files.
    • Assist with off-boarding process. Duties include, but are not limited to: routing internal notification and separation form and communicating off-boarding requirements with exiting employee.
    • Respond to employee inquires via phone, in person, and the HR Inbox.
    • Completes verification of employment and salary requests for the agency.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Hours: 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M., Monday – Friday; occasional in-state and out-of-state travel

Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate The Following

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Two years of full-time work experience performing administrative support work.
  • A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of accredited post-high school course work equals one year of full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support work in a human resources-related program area.
