THE POSITION

The Community Ambassador in the City Clerk’s Office, a division of the Office of the Mayor and City Council, serves as a dedicated liaison between the City of Moreno Valley and its residents, amplifying outreach from the Office of the Mayor and City Council. S upports a wide range of administrative and operational functions fundamental to municipal transparency and service. This position offers exposure to the structure and responsibilities of local government while contributing to the delivery of accurate, timely, and organized city services. Through collaboration with City staff and mentorship opportunities, the Ambassador develops professional skills and a grounded understanding of public administration.

About The Moreno Valley City Clerk Division

The City Clerk’s Department serves as the official recordkeeper and administrative backbone of the City of Moreno Valley. Operating within the Office of the Mayor and City Council, the department manages City Council agendas and minutes, maintains official records and the City seal, and ensures public access to information in accordance with transparency laws. It oversees municipal elections, processes campaign filings, and facilitates appointments to boards and commissions. The department also handles public records requests, bid openings, and the acceptance of claims and subpoenas. Through its commitment to accuracy, accessibility, and civic engagement, the City Clerk’s Office plays a vital role in supporting open and effective local government.

THE CITY

Moreno Valley was incorporated in 1984 as a General Law City, merging the communities of Moreno, Sunnymead and Edgemont. The City operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of an elected Mayor and four Council Members elected by district. The City has a committed customer-service oriented workforce comprised of more than 450 employees who provide a wide-range of municipal services including Public Works, Economic Development, Community Development, Parks and Community Services, Financial and Management Services and Library services. The City contracts with Riverside County for Police and Fire services.
