Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting team by performing various tasks related to accounts payable, and other financial processes. This role involves assisting with data entry, invoice processing, reconciliation, and other administrative tasks related to the nonprofit’s finances. This is an in-office position.
Responsibilities
• Data Entry: Accurately enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets.
• Invoice Processing: Manage invoices from vendors and customers, including tracking, processing, and entering them into the system.
• Reconciliation: Assist with monthly reconciliations, verifying accuracy and completeness of financial records including bank statements and credit card statements.
• Donation Intake: Participate with Development Manager in the process of receiving, scanning, and coding donations, ensuring accurate entry into the donor database.
• Financial Reporting: Help with preparing monthly and annual financialreports.
• Budget Support: Assist with preparing the annual budget and entering data.
• Audit Support: Provide support for audits, including gathering andorganizing documents. • Administrative Tasks: Perform other finance-related administrative duties, such as filing and record keeping.
• Communications: Regular checking of finance emails.
Required Qualifications
• Strong data entry skills and proficiency in accounting software (e.g.,QuickBooks).
• Excellent customer service skills and timely responsiveness to customer inquiries.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial terminology.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and nonprofit accounting principles.
• College education or equivalent experience in accounting or finance is desired.
Salary and Benefits
• The position is a full-time, exempt position.
• The salary range for this position is $60,432 – $67,522 per year.
