As a Data Analyst / FP&A, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our commission data systems to ensure accurate and timely sales compensation. You will also be responsible for setting up, tracking, analyzing and reporting on the profitability of our branches throughout the US. You'll work closely with Finance, Sales, and Technology teams to maintain data integrity, streamline processes, and provide analytical insights that support our sales organization and executive team. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to proactively identify, resolve and communicate discrepancies.
This role reports to the CFO with a dotted line to our Director of Technology.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain solutions to consolidate all commission data from Spiff and external sources
- Develop and maintain automated data pipelines to ensure seamless integration between various software systems
- Create and manage unique opportunity IDs for all commissions line items to ensure complete auditability and traceability
- Build and execute sophisticated outlier detection queries to identify potential pay issues before distribution
- Develop novel analytical approaches to catch unintended commission payments and system anomalies
- Investigate root causes of pay discrepancies and work with Technology team to implement permanent solutions
- Prepare accurate pay system uploads
- Evaluate new commission requests to determine optimal implementation approach
- Collaborate with Sales leadership to understand commission plan changes and translate them into technical requirements
- Provide analytical insights into commission payment trends, effectiveness, and potential improvements
- Present findings to senior management, translating complex commission data into actionable business insights
- Partner closely with Finance, Sales, and Technology teams to ensure commission accuracy and system reliability
- Develop a structure and process to capture and report on branch profitability.
- Other duties as assigned to support broader Finance team objectives
- 3-5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or financial analysis, preferably with commission or compensation systems
- Strong proficiency in SQL with experience in data warehousing platforms (Snowflake preferred)
- Working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and analysis
- Experience with commission management systems (Spiff experience highly preferred)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
- Experience building outlier detection and data quality monitoring systems
- Ability to digest large amounts of data and investigate complex data discrepancies across multiple systems
- Strong mathematical and statistical analysis capabilities
- Understanding of sales compensation structures and commission plan design
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex commission calculations to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Finance, Sales, and Technology teams
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field preferred
- CPA or relevant professional certification is a plus
- Experience in solar, renewable energy, or similar sales-driven industries preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, growing organizations
Salary range $80,000-$100,000/yr DOE
