Government Programs Marketing is a direct-to-consumer marketing team that promotes and engages with millions of individuals every day. Our products provide comprehensive healthcare plans to consumers that range from individuals and families to groups and Medicare consumers aged 65+. GP Marketing supports the nation’s largest business dedicated to the health and wellbeing needs of millions of beneficiaries. For more than three decades, UnitedHealthcare has served the health care coverage needs of Medicare, Medicaid and ACA beneficiaries, navigating through multiple evolutions of healthcare programs and growing to become the preferred choice of more beneficiaries than any other company in the industry. The VP Creative + Content Government Programs role will lead creative for the Government Programs’ product portfolio inclusive of Individual Medicare (MA, D-SNP, Med Supp), Group Medicare, Individual & Family Plans, and Community & State (Medicaid Individual + B2B) across the entire consumer and customer lifecycle. The role will focus on translating business objectives into content, communications and creative platforms that connect the experience and accelerate growth and retain membership. In addition, this leader will be critical in helping lead, guide and shape reputation work and content as the UHC brand continues to evolve. This position will inspire and develop a team of creatives and agency partners to produce solutions that meet each Business Line’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate is a strategist, storyteller and content expert with a tenured and successful portfolio of building affinity and consideration to ignite immediate and long-term consumer action.

This role will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, Government Programs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advance the creative vision for UnitedHealthcare Government Programs
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across the organization to create a shared vision and develop creative strategies and content stories that drive outcomes
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive creative strategy for Government Programs products to ensure a consistent approach to content
  • Lead the team and agency partners through ideation, design and execution of all creative, including design concepts, marketing campaigns, photo and video production and editorial content
  • Produce compelling branded content and visual experiences across a dynamic range of collateral, including, but not limited to, advertising, emails, events, data visualization, videos, digital, social media and leadership communications
  • Lead and train the team through transformation with Adobe creative suite of tools inclusive of a content supply chain leveraging AJO, Workfront, etc
  • Elevate UnitedHealthcare Government Programs creative platforms by putting the consumer first and leveraging their feedback and insights to create a holistic experience
  • Implement systems and processes to efficiently scale production, ensure consistent high-quality output and maximize value added
  • Use data driven insights to ensure efficiency of creative and to communicate the value of partnership with stakeholders across the Government Programs product portfolio
  • Inspire creativity across the organization
  • Lead creative team to deliver excellent work within tight timelines and budgets while coaching, mentoring and developing the team to position employees for success and future growth

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher education in Communications, Marketing, Advertising or Public Relations, or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of strategic marketing experience with large multi-company organizations
  • Broad experience with key audience segments - opinion leaders, consumers, B-to-B and B-to-C
  • Proven ability to be highly skilled at working cross-functionally and cross-culturally with people at all levels, including influencing C-Suite and other senior leaders
  • Keen ability to listen deeply, appreciate and embrace varied perspectives, and create a culture of ideation.
  • Extensive experience operationalizing brands, inclusive of always-on content with Adobe tech tools
  • Fluent in the creative development process and in managing creative teams
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize critical assignments and to oversee workflow
  • History of effectively driving results in a dynamic, matrixed environment with high degree of organizational change and comfort with ambiguity
  • Proven solid executive presence, including a history of presenting to senior executives

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $196,600 to $337,100 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
