Opportunity Summary
BRONX ARTS seeks an Elementary Visual Arts Teacher responsible for designing and implementing significant learning experience in studio art, art history, and art appreciation for students in grades K-5. The Elementary Visual Arts Teacher will work with parents, students, and school leadership to ensure that the high expectations we have for our scholars are maintained in their classroom and use their knowledge of the development of young children, to deliver instruction in ways which young children learn. Teachers are expected to support the social, emotional and cognitive development of young children.

Core Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide high quality instruction in central concepts and inquiry tools of visual arts, ensuring the subject matter is meaningful and culturally relevant.
- Design and implement course, unit, and lesson plans aligned with National Arts Learning Standards and the school’s mission.
- Assess students’ understanding and progress using formal and informal methods, adjusting instruction to enhance student achievement.
- Integrate visual arts with academic subjects to create meaningful connections.
- Differentiate instruction for students with special needs.
- Establish a warm, inclusive classroom environment, adhering to the school’s code of conduct.
- Provide ongoing communication with students and their families.
- Participate actively in team meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development, including an annual summer PD institute.
- Take responsibility for student progress and work diligently to overcome challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in art education or a related fine arts field; Master’s degree and NYS Teacher Certification preferred.
- A minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience is preferred.
- Ability to create a classroom atmosphere where students feel safe, supported, and challenged.
- Passion for teaching scholars in underserved areas and commitment to closing the achievement gap.
- Dedication to advancing the mission of the school.
- Strong drive to set and achieve ambitious goals.
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Growth mindset with a willingness to use feedback for professional improvement.
- Experience teaching in underserved communities is a plus.
