Job Description
The Creative Services Designer (CSD) works with the creative services team to provide expert insight and solutions for all creative projects at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The CSD plays a key role in enhancing the Zoo’s visual identity and communicating the Zoo's mission through innovative design. Guided by the Creative Services Manager, the CSD utilizes graphic design skills to create both digital and print graphics that elevate the Zoo’s brand. The CSD also works to produce, fabricate and install Zoo signage, habitat elements, props and other physical deliverables.
Employment Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Starting Pay: $21.20-26.50 Hourly
Experience Required: Three (3) years related work experience in graphic design and signage production OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties of the job.
Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field.
Department: Marketing and Public Relations.
Direct Supervisor: Creative Services Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: Direct (0); Indirect (0)
Primary Work Location: Zoo Setting both indoors and outdoors.
Certification: Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and pass a driver’s history check.
Other: This position is safety sensitive. It is subject to pre-employment and/or periodic background checks and drug testing.

Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
Design And Develop Brand Collateral
- Create engaging print and digital materials, including, in-park signage, brochures, posters, banners, and digital assets aligning with the Zoo's brand guidelines.
- Generate compelling visuals for marketing campaigns, events, and educational programs.
- Assist in the design, production and installation of polished signage for animal habitats, wayfinding, and other in-park displays.
- Assist in the fabrication and installation of habitat elements and props.
- Monitor and maintain existing signage, ensuring all graphics are on brand and repairing physical installations as needed.
- Update the Zoo’s map seasonally or as needed.
- Develop visually appealing graphics for the Zoo's website, social media platforms, and advertising campaigns.
- Collaborate with the marketing and public relations team to ensure cohesive and effective online communication.
- Conceptualize and design promotional materials for special events, educational programs, and seasonal campaigns.
- Work closely with the events team to ensure promotional and executional materials align with event themes and objectives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing/public relations, education, conservation science and animal care teams, to understand their design needs and deliver creative solutions.
- Communicate effectively to present design concepts and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a highly organized creative assets digital library with an intuitive filing structure. Both the Creative Services Manager and Chief Marketing Officer utilize this library daily, so timely updates are essential.
