Role
The Knowledge and Content Specialist (author) is responsible for creating, organizing, and maintaining internal content to ensure that accurate, clear, and accessible resources are available for employees. The Specialist will focus on developing and updating knowledge base articles and procedures to support credit union products and processes, ensuring the reader can understand and follow all material with ease. Collaboration is key, as the author will work closely with subject matter experts and various teams to gather and verify information.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
30% Creates, organizes, and maintains high-quality documentation, FAQs, and process guidelines to support credit union products and processes. Ensures all content is clear, concise, and accessible, promoting consistency in tone and style.
25% Partners with subject matter experts and various departments to gather and verify accurate information. Facilitates collaborative efforts to ensure content meets operational needs and addresses knowledge gaps.
15% Regularly reviews and audits knowledge base materials to reflect policy, procedure, or system changes. Maintains version control and a standardized approach for content updates.
10% Assist the Manager of Knowledge and Content with driving initiatives to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning by organizing workshops, training sessions, and interactive communication campaigns.
10% Partners with teams to proactively identify areas where knowledge resources are insufficient or outdated. Coordinates with subject matter experts to fill these gaps and ensure comprehensive documentation.
5% Continuously researches industry best practices in knowledge management and content creation. Analyzes emerging trends and technologies to propose improvements to existing content processes.
5% Proactively performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Knowledge And Skills
Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills: Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Eye for detail, accuracy and quality. Strong creative thinking and complex problem-solving skills. High level of member service and interpersonal skills required to be successful include loyalty, trustworthiness and the ability to instill confidence in people. Strong analytical and interpretation skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Functional skills with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements: Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers while using computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
Work Environment: Normal workday with occasional overtime. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery.
