The Strategic Network & Capacity Planner role is pivotal to the long-term success of Tempur Sealy International (TSI) in ensuring medium to long term capacity availability across its suppliers’ manufacturing and distribution network. The SSP will establish and help execute strategies to best manage supply flows (suppliers’ production, replenishment, and inventory management) in accordance with TSI Go-to-market strategy. This involves connecting our demand and usage variability with our vendors’ capabilities, to meet service and growth targets while minimizing risk (outages, obsolete inventory) and costs (transportation, manufacturing inefficiencies.) from an end-to-end standpoint.
A successful SSP is a natural leader with strong business acumen; is a dynamic problem solver, detail oriented and well organized; excels in manipulating data, proposing creative solutions and managing trade-offs; communicates with ease at all levels; thrives in an ambiguous environment and is adept at change management.

The Strategic Supply Planner is holistically and synergistically driving, medium and long term, supply optimization (service/agility and cost/working capital) across the three following areas with regards to external supply:

What You’ll Do (Essential Duties And Responsibilities)
The Strategic Supply Planner is holistically and synergistically driving, medium and long term, supply optimization (service/agility and cost/working capital) across the three following areas with regards to external supply:
Inventory Management
- Defines primary (key components and Raw Material stocks at suppliers) and secondary (Raw Materials in plants) safety stock settings across the network based on most relevant input (Forecast Accuracy, Lead times, Service Levels, FG inventory).
- Drives alignment towards DOS (Days of Supply) strategy (product/customer segmentation) and adjust based on Product Life Cycle maturity (incl. management of obsolescence,).
- Constantly reviews and incorporates business performance (incl. inventory availability %, E&O, dips in safety stocks) into strategy.
- Ensures external inventory management strategy is integrated with TSI internal strategy to minimize stock outs and EOL exposure.
- Standardize Supply capacity planning reporting across suppliers network (incl. bottleneck identification like Labor, material or equipment limitation).
- Monitors and tracks external capacity utilization against plan and proposes improvements to reduce variability of performance.
- Drives and coordinates initiatives to improve suppliers’ capacity and agility (incl. overtime and staffing recommendations).
- Ensures external capacity strategy is integrated with TSI internal strategy.
- Participate in process governance with sourcing team to best understand and support network design (number of suppliers, geographic situation, % co-share etc.).
- Constantly reviews and incorporates performance & business needs (incl. new products transition) into strategy.
- Makes holistic (incl. sensitivity analysis) & data driven recommendations (quantification of service, risks mitigation and financial benefits) to improve network. Considers replenishment, stocking, and production locations policies.
- Coordinates and drives successful and timely execution of network improvement initiatives.
- Ensures external inventory management strategy is integrated with TSI internal strategy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
