The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Technical Team Lead to design, build, and lead the development of a next-generation integration platform. This platform will harness artificial intelligence and iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) solutions to establish robust, bi-directional interfaces with external systems, including accounting, eCommerce, and shipping platforms.
You will lead a small, high-impact engineering team, balancing technical leadership with active coding responsibilities. Your mission is to architect, develop, and deliver a scalable, secure, and intelligent integration ecosystem that streamlines data exchange and enhances business processes across our warehouse management, manufacturing, and ecommerce solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect an AI-enabled integration platform leveraging iPaaS solutions.
- Lead the implementation of bi-directional interfaces to connect with external accounting, eCommerce, and shipping systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Shopify, ShipStation).
- Develop scalable, maintainable, and testable code, while guiding the team with best practices and modern design patterns.
- Evaluate, integrate, and manage third-party APIs and data sources.
- Collaborate with product stakeholders to define integration requirements, priorities, and technical roadmaps.
- Mentor and coach team members, conducting regular code reviews and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
- Ensure performance, security, observability and compliance of the integration platform.
- Stay up to date with AI trends, iPaaS capabilities, and emerging integration technologies to continuously improve the solution.
- Build and maintain dynamic, event-driven workflows that power integrations and business processes across external systems.
- Leverage workflow orchestration technologies such as Temporal, Apache Airflow, or N8N (Nodemation) to model, execute, and monitor long-running, distributed workflows.
- Design platform features that support dynamic and configurable workflows—enabling customization and reuse across customers or integration types.
- Coordinate with QA, DevOps, and support teams to drive successful releases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a team lead or technical leadership role.
- Strong hands-on Java skills.
- Proven experience building integration platforms, API-driven architectures, or middleware solutions.
- Familiarity with iPaaS platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Tray.io) and AI/ML concepts applied to data transformation and mapping.
- Experience building and managing workflows using orchestration frameworks like Temporal, Apache Airflow, or N8N, including task definition, retries, and error handling is a plus.
- Familiarity with creating dynamic or user-configurable workflows that can be persisted, resumed, and audited in a production SaaS environment is a strong plus.
- Experience working with accounting, eCommerce, and shipping systems and their APIs is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures (AWS), microservices, and event-driven patterns.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring and empowering others.
