Creation Village World School is seeking an experienced and passionate Language and Literature instructor to teach IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Language and Literature. The position is to join our dynamic faculty team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, fostering a love for global history, geography, political systems, economics, and religious studies, and guiding students to develop critical thinking and intercultural awareness.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean of the MYP, the Language and Literature Teacher is responsible for the daily functions and management of Language and Literature for 6th through 8th grade.
Missional Responsibilities:
Teach classes at CVWS as directed by the Dean of MYP including but not limited to:
Qualifications
Physical constraints required include the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances, to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, and the use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including the evacuation of the building during emergencies.

Job Responsibilities

Missional Responsibilities:
- Live CVWS's mission is to fulfill each learner's God-created identity by developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who love God, pursue excellence, cultivate well-being, and serve others.
- Model the foundation and four pillars of the CVWS mission in the classroom and school.
- Live and instruct the CREATION Life in the classroom, guiding students as they develop in each principle.
- Develop students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) educational framework based on their programme of study.
- Grow students holistic capabilities through Yale’s RULER approach to social-emotional learning and development.
Teach classes at CVWS as directed by the Dean of MYP including but not limited to:
- Teacher for Middle Years Programme Year, including worship, inquiry, lunch, and other activities.
- Integrate CREATION Life, RULER SEL tools, and biblical character-based education throughout daily instruction.
- Integrate IB approaches to teaching through Agency, ATL, ATT, Learner Profile, Central Idea, and Themes into daily instruction across disciplines.
- Assessment, based on IB standards, to include but not limited to Formative, Summative, and development of a whole-child portfolio.
- Conduct parent conferences, with two of the conferences being student-led.
- Participate in school activities such as chapels, events, conferences, and PD training.
- Develop a healthy teacher environment with coworkers.
- Track and monitor student progress through Toddle.
- Actively participate in PLCs to create an interdisciplinary approach to instruction and integrate it into project-based learning.
- Input, update, and reflection on Units of Inquiry and Learning Experiences in Toddle.
- Complete report cards for review by the MYP Coordinator one week before report card release.
- Design and deliver engaging IB MYP lessons that align with IB philosophy, objectives, and curriculum frameworks.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, ensuring all students have access to rigorous and meaningful learning experiences.
- Develop assessments that align with IB criteria, provide meaningful feedback, and support student growth in historical analysis, geographical literacy, economic understanding, and religious perspectives.
- Promote inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding in the classroom.
- Support students in preparation for IB internal and external assessments, including research-based essays, document analysis, and comparative religious studies.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active student participation and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and support whole-school initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with IB best practices in social sciences and religious studies instruction.
- Integrate with CVWS's classroom management, instruction, and routines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate room that creates a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the students.
- Meet with the Dean of the MYP to discuss each student's progress and needs, determine their priorities for the student, and suggest ways to promote learning and development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) in Literature, Language, Political Science, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field.
- IB MYP and/or DP teaching certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in an IB setting (preferred).
- Strong understanding of IB philosophy, curriculum framework, and assessment strategies.
- Experience in differentiating instruction and implementing inquiry-based learning strategies.
- Passion for global education and cultural awareness.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Creation Village World School.
