Software Development Engineer 1 (Entry Level)

Job_Summary:

IBM is an IT technology and consulting firm providing computer hardware, software, infrastructure, and hosting services. They are seeking a Software Development Engineer 1 to work within a platform engineering team delivering scalable, high performing services. This role involves collaborating with teams to deliver features and participating in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities:

• You will work with your scrum team to deliver impactful and valuable features operating on a bi-weekly sprint cadence.

• You will personally own end-to-end features from concept to design to production, and partner with product managers, other engineers, and other teams to achieve high-quality solutions.

• Be part of the on-call rotation to help mitigate and solve any issues that may arise from the day-to-day operations of running a service.

Qualifications:

-Required:

• Bachelor's Degree

• Hands-on experience delivering enterprise level software preferably Java, other languages also considered

• Professional experience with relational databases, schema design, and SQL. Experience with database implementations (query optimization, index generation, caching).

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes. Strong understanding of containerization technologies like Docker

• Experience with cloud providers like AWS, Azure or equivalent.

• Proficiency in version control systems like Git

• Strong communication skills (written and oral)

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

-Preferred:

• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in delivering Software as a Service (SaaS) applications and understanding the impact of this architecture in a deployment environment.

• Experience in infrastructure deployment tools such as terraform, etc.

• Experience in DevOps, platform engineering or a related role

• Experience in production on-call handling

• Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Datadog, Splunk, PagerDuty, etc.

• Experience with SSO, SAML and OIDC
