Job Summary & Responsibilities
Job Summary: The Configuration & Release Engineer 2 will be responsible for overseeing the configuration management process, ensuring the integrity and consistency of system configurations. This role involves collaborating with various departments to implement and maintain configuration management policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement configuration management policies, change control, procedures, and standards.
- Manages the change process development and cross functional training to ensure process efficiency, simplicity, and scalability
- Overseeing the process of identifying, documenting, and controlling changes to all components within Windchill, SAP, & Oracle
- Oversee the configuration identification, control, status accounting, and auditing processes.
- Collaborate with IT, engineering, and other departments to ensure configuration management practices are integrated into all phases of the system lifecycle.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of configuration management processes and documentation.
- Provide training and support to staff on configuration management tools and practices.
- Monitor and report on configuration management metrics and performance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identifying and documenting all configuration items within a system, including hardware, software, documentation, and network components.
- Reviewing change requests and problem reports assessing impact and obtaining necessary approvals before implementing changes.
- Maintaining accurate records of system configuration details, including current status and changes made.
- Generating reports on configuration status to stakeholders.
- Review and analyze submitted change orders and coordinate change implementation plans with Product Management, Supply Chain, R&D Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Production Control and any other affected departments
- Regularly review configuration management processes, developing revisions to, or new processes, with an eye towards continuous improvement
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing constructive feedback, support, and development opportunities for the team
- Oversee the team responsible for execution of various change types including Problem Reports, Change Requests, Engineering Change Notices, etc.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in Configuration Management
- Proven experience in configuration management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of configuration management tools and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Certification in configuration management (e.g., ITIL, CMII) is a plus.
- Experience with Copy Exactly process is a plus.
- Electrical and/or Mechanical drawing knowledge
- Experience with Windchill PLM (or similar), Oracle EBS, MS SharePoint, SolidWorks, SAP Variant Configuration, Oracle CPQ.
