We’re on the hunt for our next Manager of Employer Engagement & Retention —a strategic connector who will drive powerful partnerships with employers across sectors like Health Care, Tech, and Human Services. You’ll lead job fairs, coordinate retention services, and transform client outcomes by turning data into action. This individual will manage, develop and deliver educational and training needs that align with the program goals and support the growth and efficiency of the program team.

The Awesome Things You’ll Do

  • Provide expert input and leadership around education and training offerings across Workforce Development programs, including ESOL, ABE, bridge trainings , occupational trainings , and any other education and training needs that may arise.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development leadership on curriculum development and revisions, development of new course offerings, review and revision of existing offerings, and identification and quality review of contracted training partners.
  • Advise on strategic opportunities to enhance GWNYNJ education and training offerings, adding new content to keep in step with workforce trends, recommending changes or retirement of content that is out of date, and keeping abreast of best practices for delivering both in-person and virtual content.
  • Advise on recruitment of new instructors and on professional development opportunities for instructors on staff.
  • Provide expert guidance on how to assess and evaluate program participants’ skill attainment and grade level advancement, advising on strategies such as pre/post tests using standardized instruments, informal assessment of knowledge, and other tests to assess client progress.
  • Stay current with program specific program requirements related to education and training, and ensure that any adjustments that are made to approach are aligned with those requirements.
  • Use labor market information to align GWNYNJ education and training approach to opportunities in the job market and to economic trends.
  • Coordinate with Manager of Employer Engagement and Retention to identify skills articulated by Business Advisory Councils and adjust occupational curricula to meet these skill requirements.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of internship programming, including identifying and referring participants to potential internship opportunities
  • Partner with Manager of Employer Engagement and Retention to troubleshoot any issues related to internship/community service sites. Partnership Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for contracted education and training providers, managing the relationships, reviewing the quality of their work, and making recommendations around any changes that might be needed (initiation, expansion, or termination of relationships).
  • Serve as the primary liaison for non-contracted training and education referral partners, managing the relationships, reviewing the quality of their work, and making recommendations around any changes that might be needed (initiation, expansion, or termination of relationships).
  • Ensure vocational training programs with whom we work have a demonstrated track record of providing industry-recognized training, credentialing, or sector-specific skills instruction that provide pathways to occupations with higher wages and opportunities for advancement, as well as ensuring the curricula of those programs are informed by industry and employer demand.
  • Engage with the broader training and education community to stay abreast of innovative approaches and trends that could influence and inform GWNYNJ’s training and education strategy.
  • Develop new partnerships as needed to support the needs of existing GWNYNJ programs as well as new program opportunities that may arise.

Our Must Haves

  • BA/BS degree or 5-7 years’ of equivalent experience in training, education, ESOL, or a related field.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary .
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be flexible and able to respond to the changing needs of the program.
  • Ability to travel within the region to cultivate relationships with training and education providers.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - must be able to interface effectively and collegially with staff at all levels.
