‘The Desk’ is an innovative and integral role on the morning show of CBS News Texas. This is a hybrid role that includes multi-platform content creation and working as an assignment desk editor. This person will do multiple hits during the morning show, fronting developing and breaking stories from our assignment desk. The ideal candidate will have excellent news judgment and ability to produce & edit engaging content on multiple platforms. This candidate works as an assignment desk editor that calls, confirms stories and then reports them in quick, interactive hits on-air.
Responsibilities include writing content for on-air/online/social media platforms.
While working on the assignment desk this candidate will pursue relevant breaking news. Communicate with multiple news crews. Monitor news scanners and social media sites.

Successful candidate should have:
- Proven experience editing for broadcast/digital news at the collegiate level or above
- Experience with iNews a plus
- Experience with non-linear editing systems, Grass Valley Edius preferred
- Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred
- Must be driven by results, innovative, self-directed, and work independently while meeting deadlines
- Willing to work a varied work schedule including overnights, weekends, and holidays
