Position Description

The Human Resources Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. This position carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: departmental development, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organization development, and employment.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists with the tracking of departmental and agency measurements that support the accomplishment of the agency's strategic goals.
  • Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR department.

Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements and retains record consistent with agency record retention requirements.

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, update enrollment information, and communicate benefits information to employees.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Maintains organization charts, human resource information system records, and personnel files.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all positions; conducts new-employee orientations, and monitors career-pathing program.
  • Completes verification of employment requests.
  • Reconciles monthly financials such as Procard Statements, department invoices, and employee benefits invoice.
  • Maintains awareness of developments and trends occurring within the HR profession through in-service workshops, meetings, conferences, professional literature and organizational memberships.
  • Maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of performance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of confidential or sensitive records and information.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A combination of appropriate education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities.An example of an acceptable qualification is:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, public administration, business management or a closely related field.
  • Three years of experience in human resources and/or administrative support.
  • Valid Driver's License that meets Five Rivers MetroParks' insurance carrier guidelines.

Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screening test prior to employment.
