Primary Purpose

Ahold Delhaize USA (ADUSA) is looking for a corporate strategy analyst to join its Health and Sustainability Team. This role involves supporting strategic initiatives, developing partnerships, and contributing to the company's broader corporate strategy and strategic plan. This role will work cross-functionally to assess market conditions, shape business plans, and provide data-driven recommendations for the great brands of ADUSA. Key responsibilities include conducting analysis, preparing presentations, collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and internal leadership. Ideal candidates are analytical, adaptable, and collaborative, with strong communication skills and a foundational understanding of sustainability. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders-including ADUSA local brand leadership, Ahold Delhaize Group, ADUSA leadership, third-party partners, and cross-functional teams-on high-impact sustainability initiatives, reporting, pilots, and strategies
  • Create and develop business cases and conduct key analytics to support critical work (e.g., competitive benchmarking, pilot impact analysis, regulatory developments, reporting standards)
  • Create, develop, deploy and track strategies related to food waste, zero waste, and emissions
  • Support ADUSA local brands with KPI forecasting and roadmap analysis and scenarios particularly on waste-related topics
  • Create and develop compelling presentations to advance initiatives and align stakeholders, and use storytelling techniques to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders including senior leadership
  • Conduct site visits to local brand retail stores and distribution centers (DCs) to uncover sustainability opportunities, then collaborate with regional and divisional teams to translate findings into actionable strategies and implementation plans
  • Support the annual strategic and integrated business planning processes by delivering in-depth analysis, market research, and data-driven insights to inform sustainability priorities and decision-making
  • Create, maintain, and communicate sustainability performance scorecards, providing clear visibility into key metrics related to operations, health, and circularity for internal stakeholder of the local brands of ADUSA

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5 years of experience in corporate strategy, sustainability strategy/analytics, or process execution-preferably within the grocery retail or consulting industries
  • Strong expertise in environmental sustainability topics, including food waste, zero waste initiatives, and greenhouse gas emissions
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as TCFD or SBTi as well as guidance such as the Food Loss & Waste Protocol or initiatives like Race to Zero or 10x20x30
  • Solid business acumen with experience in strategic process integration, financial planning, and forecasting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in presentation development and communication best practices for diverse audiences
  • Understanding of emerging ESG regulations and directives, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and lead project-based work with structure and focus
  • Creative and structured problem solver with strong conceptual, analytical, and critical reasoning skills
  • Proven ability to analyze data, derive actionable insights, and drive organizational change with measurable outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, people-oriented approach; effective in cross-functional teams and independent settings
  • Confident communicator and presenter, capable of engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels-from store associates to executive leadership
  • Ability to lead initiatives and influence outcomes without formal authority
  • Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Able to travel within the ADUSA Brand footprint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master in Sustainability, Business Administration or Data Analytics preferred
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements on environmental topics impacting retail or the food supply chain
  • Some expertise in ESG topics impacting critical commodities, supply chain risk, health and circularity
  • Experience working with retail or consumer goods brands, especially in grocery or food systems
