Schedule: 3-4 days/week, Monday-Thursday (No Holidays, Weekends, or On-Call)
Position Overview:
Gailey Eye Surgery is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Decatur. This is a hybrid role ideal for a nurse who enjoys both administrative and clinical work. The RN will spend 1-2 days/week assisting on the surgical floor, with the remainder of the time at the PAT desk, ensuring patients are fully prepared for surgery and supporting coordination across departments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Notify patients of surgery times two days in advance.
- Ensure all pre-admission charts are complete at least four days prior to surgery.
- Confirm all required preoperative documentation (physicals, labs, EKGs, consents).
- Coordinate and confirm patient scheduling and arrival times.
- Communicate with patients, family members, and external facilities to gather medical history and documentation.
- Collaborate with anesthesia for chart reviews and follow-up on clearances.
- Assist in finalizing daily surgical schedules and distributing them to the team.
- Provide backup support for scheduling, staffing, and other floor duties as needed.
- Maintain thorough and accurate patient records and track outstanding documentation.
- Circulate in the procedure room and administer IV conscious sedation as needed
- Transcribe and implement physicians’ orders accurately
- Perform IV punctures, dispense medications, and carry out venipunctures
- Monitor and recognize patient rhythms
- Maintain adherence to all policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff
- Communicate effectively regarding patient care and personnel matters

Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (Required)
- Prior experience with pre-admission testing or perioperative care preferred
- BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Comfortable with electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation systems
