We are seeking a Product Manager who is responsible for driving the profitable growth of our business through exemplary leadership of the product team. This role is responsible for managing buyers within the assigned product category and aligning with company inventory and pricing philosophies. As a key supervisory and commercial role, the Assistant Product Manager serves as a vital resource for both inside and outside sales, leveraging in-depth knowledge of products, industry/market applications, and Ryerson’s preferred sourcing strategies.

We are seeking a Product Manager who is responsible for driving the profitable growth of our business through exemplary leadership of the product team. This role is responsible for managing buyers within the assigned product category and aligning with company inventory and pricing philosophies. As a key supervisory and commercial role, the Assistant Product Manager serves as a vital resource for both inside and outside sales, leveraging in-depth knowledge of products, industry/market applications, and Ryerson’s preferred sourcing strategies.
Roles And Responsibilities
- The role of the Product Manager is to enhance profitable growth in non-ferrous long products, including value- add processing and fabrication while supporting company inventory and pricing philosophies
- This is a lead role coordinating efforts between local sales and management to enhance growth and profitability for non-ferrous long products including: sourcing of programs, customer sales calls, presentations, sales training, supplier managment and inventory management
- Develop relationships with our key suppliers to improve our buy position, stay ahead or market trends and communicate market intelligence to staff and line management
- Work closely with Global Accounts and Vertical Market Groups to connect the buy-sell and facilitate the management of our key program customers
- Communicate information on market trends, developments, and industry happenings
- Manage the risk of metal commitments using Ryerson contract methodology
- Work with the Director of Supply Chain to ensure that Ryerson buy position is differentiated based on market share position
- Work closely with mills, service centers and material management groups to continually improve our working capital metrics
- Grow market share of product via sales calls, sourcing alternatives, and helping districts on all product needs they may have
- All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or High School Diploma with 8 plus years of experience
- 5+ years of supply chain or product sales experience desired
- Experience with non-ferrous long products preferred, metal fabrication experience a plus
- Initiates and builds strong relationships
- Develops compelling sales strategies
- Coordinates with Service Centers
- Provides excellent customer service
- Travel expectation 40-50%
