Job Description
Department: UHC: Surgery - RUHS General
Job Summary: The Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) Health Informatics Analyst collects, abstracts, and enters data from patient medical records into the SVS Patient Safety Organization (PSO) registry. Validates the data is accurate and complete, and ensures it adheres to clinical data abstraction guidelines (inclusion and exclusion criteria). Performs primary data abstraction duties for all Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) Registries for which Riverside University Health Systems (RUHS) participates. Ensures high levels of abstraction accuracy for assigned accounts via validation activities. Demonstrates strong communication, documentation, organizing, and planning skills to ensure strong leadership of multiple accounts concurrently. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health-related field preferred. One year of related experience with data abstraction or work with registries preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of HIPPA compliance and regulatory and accreditation requirements to assist with survey preparedness for CMS and The Joint Commission (or their equivalent) and as it relates to data collection requirements and implements changes as indicated. Ability to formulate reports based on quality metrics data. Knowledge of data collection, entry, validation and quality improvement methods. Demonstrates a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills. Must have strong organizing skills. Must have strong planning skills. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to work with a dynamic healthcare team composed of many people to optimize patient outcomes, perform follow up visits etc. Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality in all aspects of work. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Licensures and Certifications: Registered Nurse or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
