Job Overview

iStudio Projects is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Project Estimator to join our innovative team. This role is ideal for someone who excels at analyzing project scopes and building precise cost projections across unique theatrical, entertainment, and architectural environments. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and creative leads to ensure our custom-designed systems and structures are accurately budgeted from concept through completion.

From historic renovations to brand-new installations, our engineers and riggers ensure every detail aligns with the client's vision and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents to prepare accurate take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Build quotes and proposals using cost-estimating tools, vendor pricing, and in-house labor data.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather pricing and availability of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Conduct site visits (when necessary) to understand field conditions, take measurements, and support accurate bidding.
  • Analyze labor, materials, and equipment requirements and prepare detailed cost breakdowns.
  • Support the pre-construction process by contributing to bid strategies and scope reviews.
  • Track bid performance, submitted estimates, and historical cost data to refine future pricing accuracy.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure handoff of all estimate-related documentation and expectations.
  • Stay current on industry pricing, construction trends, and code requirements impacting estimate accuracy.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, preferably in construction, entertainment rigging, or technical production environments.
  • Theatrical background is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading construction drawings and understanding technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of cost estimation software including Bluebeam and Excel-based estimating tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience in theatrical environments, rigging, or audiovisual systems is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Technical Theatre, or related field preferred.
