Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager to lead our payroll function and drive continued excellence in compensation and benefits administration out of our corporate office in Pompano Beach, FL. In this pivotal role, you will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing, support employee benefit operations, and contribute to a positive employee experience- all while making a meaningful impact behind the scenes of an organization changing lives every day.
Position Details
- Reporting to: HR Director
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Location: Pompano Beach, FL (On-site), with one remote day per week after onboarding
- Process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll adjustments, deductions, garnishments, and reconciliations
- Maintain compliance with wage laws and FLSA regulations
- Lead data cleanup and ongoing payroll system maintenance in UKG
- Partner with HR and IT to optimize payroll and timekeeping systems
- Coordinate benefit deductions and reconcile payments for health insurance, retirement plans, and other offerings
- Conduct audits to ensure data integrity and resolve variances in payroll or benefits
- Generate and submit quarterly/annual tax filings and payroll reports (including W-2s) in compliance with SOX
- Prepare month-end and year-end payroll close, journal entries, and support financial audits
- Manage employee time-off tracking, accruals, and 401(k) contribution variances
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism
- Train HR staff on payroll procedures and system changes
- Develop and maintain payroll SOPs and support internal/external audits
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5–7 years of payroll management experience, including benefits integration and regulatory compliance
- Experience with UKG systems, preferably 3-5 years.
- Proficiency in multi-state payroll and knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume payroll with accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll processes to non-experts
- Experience supporting payroll within a healthcare, behavioral health, or multi-entity organization
- Familiarity with SOX controls and payroll-related compliance auditing
- Advanced Excel skills or payroll reporting/analytics tools
