The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant to the Senior Associate AD, Student Athlete Academic Services. This is a 50% time (probationary and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Assistant to the Senior Associate Athletics Director, Student Athlete Acadeic Services (SAAS) is responsible for the management, organization, and coordination of all support activities related to the office of Student-Athlete Academic Services. This will be a 50% time position with a work schedule of in-office/on-site 8:00 a.m. to Noon, Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience (typically 6 months to 1 year) providing office management and basic administrative support to professional staff, including scheduling and preparing correspondences while independently prioritizing and managing other processes and functions;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience providing excellent frontline customer service;
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • Working knowledge of and ability to:
    • Effectively use office support software, (such as Microsoft Office, InDesign, SiteNow, Illustrator, etc.) to generate reports, merge information with correspondence, design publications and update websites (please specify software used);
    • Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working in a collegiate educational services unit that provides programs and services to students;
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to:
    • Manage sensitive data and maintain a high level of confidentiality;
    • Utilize student management database systems such as ACS/Front Rush, MAUI, Team Works and Grades First (specify systems used);
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing and hiring part-time employees.
