Position Overview
The Senior Director/Director, People Relations is responsible for leading a team focused on driving and delivering performance improvement initiatives that help the business to achieve objectives while mitigating risk. This role will oversee the day-to-day management of employment relations, working closely with HR Business Partners, managers and employees to address and resolve workplace issues. The Director will need to navigate sensitive employee situations while balancing company priorities.

- Develop, implement, and manage people relations strategies to drive a high-performance culture
- Drive company performance philosophy and develop policies and practices in support of it
- Act as a point of escalation for the team by providing guidance and support on complex employee relations issues, including performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace conduct.
- Manage sensitive or complex investigations of employee complaints, grievances, and disputes, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Provide expert advice to HR partners, managers, and employees on conflict resolution techniques, handling disciplinary matters, and addressing sensitive situations.
- Facilitates resolution of conflicts or performance matters in a manner that is in line with company values and legal considerations.
- Set best practices for the people relations team and help build out the people relations function, ensuring that all people relations practices are consistent with legal requirements, company values, and industry best practices.
- Partner with Legal, HR Centers of Excellence and HR Business Partners in updating or developing HR policies and practices to ensure consistency across Paylocity
- Develop training programs and resources to managers on best practices for handling employee relations issues, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Compile and analyze data and statistics for trends regarding performance and compliance with employment laws
- Provide regular reports to senior leadership on the status of employee relations matters, key trends, and any areas requiring intervention or improvement.
- Use data and insights to recommend changes to policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Manage the company severance process, making recommendations for best practice and market alignment
- Prepare and deliver presentations for leadership and key stakeholders in partnership with HR COE’s and leaders
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration, HR Management or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience with a focus on employment relations
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment/labor laws and statutes, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII and other DOL regulations
- Experience leading and/or managing a team
- Prior experience working in a complex organization with multiple state locations
- Previous experience recommending solutions to employee relations situations
- High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism
- Excellent communication and presentations skills, with the ability to interface with audiences of all levels throughout the organization
- Ability to partner with internal HR team members, business leaders and counsel, drive and influence
- Ability to develop solutions and make recommendations to senior leadership
- Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
- Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
